We made it to our final destination of our rv adventure - Utah! And what a beautiful place it is. The mountains here are absolutely stunning! Tonight's sunset resulted in the peaks being surrounded by pink skies - such an incredible visual!
It's almost midnight, so I don't think my entry tonight will be among my longest or best written, so please bear with me!
We left Boise this morning and Roberto was once again put to the test - it was a long day of driving. This full day on the road provided us with some impressive sights, including seeing different weather systems at one time in the vastness of our surroundings! We saw rain coming in but ended up barely getting wet as the gray clouds dissipated to reveal the sunniest of skies! And we witnessed some of the biggest, fluffiest clouds ever!
And now, cue the western movie theme music...
We ran over a tumbleweed - and it was motoring, probably about the speed of Roberto (ok, I should stop making fun of Roberto - he has been good to us)! But it was just like in the movies; this rolling plant came right into our path, and we both thought it was pretty cool to see! Thanks, Twin Falls, Idaho, for the excitement!
It was another day where we saw lots of agricultural activity. There are some massive beef feedlots in this part of the country! Jerseys, Black Angus, and Holsteins were some of the breeds of cattle that we drove past in our travels this afternoon. And on the roads there were a number of trucks carrying all kinds of produce.
The foothills and mountains were once again spectacular. And Salt Lake City is massive! It just goes on and on and on! We got into some major traffic - which makes sense since it was Friday afternoon - but in many parts of Salt Lake City's highways I think the traffic is just the norm. Lehi, where we are staying tonight, is booming! I have never seen a city like it - everything is new - houses, schools, high-tech buildings, stores, theatres. And there seems to be a real order to the layout of the city. It is very impressive! Utah's motto - "Industry" - is very fitting for both when the state was settled (as I can imagine settling a desert is extremely hard work) and today, with all of the evident growth that is taking place.
We had a great visit and supper with Anne, her daughter, Lauren (who is visiting from Australia!) and her granddaughters Cambree, Harker and Andi. The girls are so sweet, cute and highly entertaining! I got in lots of snuggles with Andi so I am one contented great-aunt! Cambree and Harker are passionate colourers so it was lots of fun to watch and participate in that activity with them.
Now we are back in Roberto and ready for some shut-eye (I think seeing that tumbleweed is bringing out the cowgirl in me)!
Night, y'all! xoxo
